Heaven by Force

Introduction

In any detailed study of the meaning, use and significance of the NT terms Heaven, Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God, the Bible student encounters the following enigmatic verses:

Mat 11.12
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.

and

Luk 16.16
The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

The purpose of this short article is to solve the enigma of these two verses by means of a systematic study of their grammar, along with a clear understanding of the meaning of the verbs used.
